ABOUT US

The film production company geosfilm was founded in 2007 by Hubert Schönegger. Since
1989, he has been active in the film and media industry, gaining extensive experience as a
journalist, cameraman, editor, and director. With his in-depth expertise and passion for the
moving image, he has shaped numerous national and international productions, primarily
broadcast on television in German- and Italian-speaking regions.

In 2017, his son Matthias Schönegger joined the company. Since then, father and son have
jointly managed the company and continuously developed it further. By combining long-
standing experience with fresh impulses, geosfilm has established itself as a reliable partner
for high-quality film productions. Their range of services spans from documentary formats
and TV productions to international projects, all realized with professionalism, creativity, and
a high standard of quality.

As co-owners, Hubert and his son Matthias Schönegger also took on the role of producers,
significantly shaping geosfilm’s profile. Under their leadership, numerous television programs
were created that received considerable attention from audiences and at international
festivals. Notable productions include Floodplains of South Tyrol, At the Edge – My
Homeland, My Life, South Tyrol – Life in a Natural Jewel (ORF Universum), and The Seven
Nature Parks of South Tyrol, among others.

They also gained valuable experience through repeated collaborations with renowned
production companies such as EPO-Film (Austria), industry leaders like RAI Cinema
(Cinecittà, Italy), and major broadcasters including RAI, ORF, ARD, ZDF, SWR, SR, NDR,
BR, ProSieben, arte, 3sat, BBC, and ServusTV.
This international network and their high standard of quality remain the cornerstone of
geosfilm’s successful productions, which continue to gain recognition far beyond South Tyrol.

Hubert and his son Matthias Schönegger, owners of geosfilm KG, run a small but highly
efficient production company that, thanks to creativity, innovation, and a commitment to the
highest quality, has earned recognition beyond national borders. Since its founding, geosfilm
has established itself as a leading producer of nature films, cultural documentaries, reports,
and sports coverage, while also demonstrating remarkable versatility through larger cinema
and feature film productions.

Remarkably, geosfilm produces internationally successful films that receive significant festival
attention despite comparatively modest budgets. Their continuous media presence and
collaborations with prominent partners from business and the public sector have made
geosfilm an indispensable player in the South Tyrolean media landscape. Today, geosfilm
stands as a synonym for creative excellence, international quality, and the successful
realization of ambitious film projects “Made in South Tyrol.”

The pilot project Tears of the Sexten Dolomites emerged several years ago from a passion
for authentic storytelling and the desire to bring South Tyrolean stories to life with the highest
cinematic quality.

Years of experience have shown that even with a small, highly motivated team, projects of
international caliber can be realized. This passion, combined with creativity and efficiency,
