“After World War II, Paula Morandell Atz and her family struggle to return to their homeland in South Tyrol after being displaced by the Option – a fate that has rarely been documented so poignantly. This story speaks of pain, hope, and the unyielding will to find a home again after the darkness.
A story that symbolically represents the fate of many during that time.”

ABOUT US

Hubert Schönegger has been active in the field of film production since 1989 and has worked on national and international television productions in various roles, including as a publicist, director, cameraman and editor. In addition, he was significantly involved as a producer in numerous programs. Some of these productions have caused a stir and won awards at various festivals due to their outstanding quality and original approach.

Examples of this are works such as “Life on the Edge in South Tyrol”, “South Tyrol – Life in a Natural Jewel”, “The Floodplain Landscapes of South Tyrol” and documentaries about the “Nature Parks of South Tyrol”. In 2015, his feature film “Tears of the Sesto Dolomites” was even selected for a nomination at the Pune Film Festival in India.

In 2007, Hubert Schönegger founded the new company geosfilm.

Schönegger has gained valuable experience through his repeated collaboration with other production companies such as EPO-Film in Austria, Movieman-Productions in Germany, Cinecittà Luce in Italy as well as with various television companies, including RAI Cinema, RAI UNO, ORF,ARD, ZDF, SWR, SR, NDR, BR, PRO7, arte, 3sat, BBC and ServusTV collected. This collaboration forms a solid basis for the numerous geosfilm productions.

Geosfilm is a company that works extremely efficiently despite its limited employee structure. Since 2018, Matthias, the son of the company founder, has also successfully established himself in various areas at Geosfilm, including nature documentaries, cultural documentaries, reports, sports reports and, in particular, feature films. What is impressive is that Geosfilm has shown that high-quality and internationally successful productions can be made from South Tyrol, and at comparatively low production costs.

In 2013, the first film entitled “Tears of the Sesto Dolomites” on the subject of the First World War was shot in the Dolomites. The film was characterized by intense mountain and nature shots, which enabled the production company Geosfilm to successfully bring its many years of experience in the documentary sector into the world of feature films.

Geosfilm’s goal is to continue to make a name for itself through further high-quality feature films for cinema and television and to continue on its successful path to date. The idea of implementing a pilot project like “Tears of the Sesto Dolomites” came about a few years ago. The experience of being able to successfully implement projects even with a small but highly motivated team has encouraged Geosfilm to continue pursuing this path.
