BETWEEN DOWNY OAK AND SWISS STONE PINE, THE FOREST IN SOUTH TYROL

The habitat forest has many functions and brings valuable benefits to the flora and fauna. 44 percent of the South Tyrolean area (approximately 740,000 acres) are forested.

That’s almost half of the country. Unique to South Tyrol is the relationship between forest and mountain. The tree line touches the impressive rocky landscape. Since always, the forest is an excellent habitat for animals and plants. In harmony with the ground, the location and the climate, the diverse forest communities have developed.
